SHIPPING WORLD

Ship stores own CO2 emissions while sailing
The Rotterdam-based Value Maritime claims to be the first in the world to be
able to capture and store CO2 while at sea. Early October, the ship Nordica
will be the first to use this new sustainable technology. The capability to
capture and store up to 100 % CO2 is modelled on an existing filter system
for sulphur oxides and particulate matter..

AP Moller-Maersk has agreed to sell its refrigerated container business,

                                              Ltd (CIMC).
CIMC will take over MCI’s entire organisation and assets which include the
refrigerated container factory in Qingdao, China, as well as its R&D and test
                                              engineering facilities in Tinglev, Denmark.
The US$987.3m deal will see MCI become part of a market-leading company
in the container equipment industry. Headquartered in Shenzhen, and listed
on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange and Hong Kong Stock Exchange, CIMC
provides equipment and services for logistics and energy industries. CIMC
Containers is its largest business segment and is specialised in the

containers. MCI will be part of a new product line within marine reefer units to

Container line schedule reliability hits new low of 33.6%
SeaIntel’s August Global Liner Performance Report saw schedule reliability
dropping to 33.6% its lowest level in the 10 years the analyst has tracked
                                              container line reliability.
Much of the year schedule reliability had hovered around 35 – 40%,
however, the August coincided with growing port congestion in the US, Asia
and elsewhere, which has worsened yet further in September. The report
said that late arrival of vessels had continued to deteriorate in August
increase 0.58 days to an average of 7.57 days.
No lines managed to score 50% schedule reliability in August, and six
                                              registered less than 20%.
Highest was Maersk Line with 45.6% schedule reliability and the lowest was
