DSV-PANALPINA ACQUISITION
Danish group DSV A/S raised its offer to take over Panalpina to $4.3 billion on
15.02.2019, after the Switzerland-based company disclosed it was in separate talks
to merge logistics operations with Kuwait’s Agility Group.
DSV, the sixth-biggest logistics operator, according to research group Armstrong &
Associates, has been seeking to bulk up to challenge the biggest firms, including
Switzerland’s Kuehne + Nagel International AG and Germany’s DB Schenker.
CMA-CGM- CEVA ACQUISITION
French container-shipping major CMA CGM is pursuing a $1.65 billion deal for full
control of Swiss-based Ceva Logistics AG in an effort to add revenue streams from
freight logistics to its core ocean-transportation business. The Swiss company is the
world’s 10th-biggest third-party logistics operator by revenue, which has a market
capitalization of about 1.2 billion francs.
European regulators approved CMA CGM SA’s proposed takeover of Ceva
Logistics.
MAERSK AND MSC GIVE ASIA-MED THE MEGAMAX TREATMENT
2M, the vessel sharing agreement between the world’s two largest liners, MSC and
Maersk, is set to supersize the Asia-Mediterranean tradelane.
Alphaliner is reporting the 19,224 teu MSC Clara will shift from the Asia –Europe
tradelane to service the Mediterranean on 2M’s AE-11/Jade service from March 27,
becoming the first megamax to be deployed in a dedicated Asia – Mediterranean
loop. In total, Maersk and MSC will switch eleven 19,000 teu class ships to the
Mediterranean route, a tradelane that has typically been served by 15,000 teu class
ships in recent years.
