People in Gulf will start working at night by year 2040
Climate scientists have predicted that people in Kuwait and the other Gulf states will
work at night in the summer of 2040 because temperatures will rise up to 60
degrees Celsius during peak hours in daytime which will virtually make the
movement of people impossible, according to research currently underway, reports
Al-Rai daily.
Iqama sticker to be scrapped
As part of ongoing efforts to develop and modernize various interior ministry
departments, Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Khaled Al-Jarrah
Al-Sabah issued a ministerial resolution cancelling the use of residency stickers on
expats’ passports and including all the needed data on their civil IDs instead, said
assistant undersecretary for residency affairs Maj Gen Talal Maarafi.
Eating locusts in Kuwait making a significant comeback
Locusts are among the most exotic foods in the Kuwaiti cuisine that was especially
popular in the old days. While the habit of eating locusts declined significantly in
recent years, the tradition seems to be making some sort of a comeback
nowadays.The ‘locusts market,’ located near the truffle market in Al-Rai’s famous
Friday Market, has been seeing increased activity lately, with shoppers flocking to
purchase huge sacks containing the ground-dwelling insects.
High-level Chinese delegation ‘concludes’ 2-day Kuwait visit
A highlevel Chinese delegation concluded its visit to Kuwait on Monday after two
days discussions with senior state officials on bolstering economic cooperation. The
visit came to fulfill a memo signed between the two sides concerning the
development of Al-Harir (Silk) City and other five Kuwaiti Islands.
