Kuwait reports highest single-day COVID deaths record
Kuwait’s Ministry of Health reported 18 deaths on 29th June related to
the novel coronavirus that were recorded over the previous 24 hours;
the highest single-day record since the disease spread in the country.
The ministry also reported 1,718 new cases; up from 1,652 the previous
day which saw 10 deaths registered. Of yesterday’s reported deaths, 17
were for people unvaccinated against COVID-19 while one had taken a
single dose. Total deaths have reached 1,961 and cases jumped to
354,851 as of yesterday.
No more work from home starting August 1
Kuwait’s Director General of the Public Authority for Manpower (PAM),
Ahmed Al Mousa, issued a circular on Sunday saying it will lift the work
from home mandate starting August 1.
All government employees are required to return to normal working
hours in person from 7:30am to 2:30pm. Those exempt from the
decision are pregnant women and people who have chronic illnesses.
Kuwait to hit 52C, high humidity this coming week
Kuwait is forecast to experience steep increases in temperatures this
coming week with mercury expected to reach 52 degree Celsius in the
first week of July. According to the Kuwait meteorological department,
the country recorded a maximum temperature of 49 Celsius on 29th
June.
Only vaccinated individuals now allowed to enter malls,
restaurants, gyms and salons in Kuwait
Authorities in Kuwait have started enforcing the decision to restrict the
entry to malls, restaurants, cafes, gyms, health clubs, salons, parks and
cultural facilities to only those vaccinated against Covid-19.
To enter, a person will need to show their vaccination status on the My
Identity or Immunity mobile application, the Kuwait News Agency
(KUNA) reported on Sunday.
