FELICITIOUS UPGRADATION OF
REGIONAL PORT INFRASTRUCTURE
In recent years, Kuwait has made substantial gains in its logistics and transportation
sector, as Kuwait finalizes its long-term development goals, transportation
infrastructure has been a key area of concern, attracting multiple large scale
initiatives aimed at expanding key travel channels which helps in developing new
routes.
Kuwait Ports Authority (KPA) has requested Central Agency for Public tenders to
float the tender to seek consultant studies for developing and expanding Shuwaikh
Port within the current fiscal year, KPA thereby affirmed the availability of the budget
for the same.
The planned expansion of the ports infrastructure will be a game changer in Kuwait,
each of Kuwait’s four main ports are awaiting extensive renovations and expansions
in the coming years.
Shuwaikh Port is said to receive a serious equipment upgrade, receiving new gantry
cranes and various yard equipment, an advanced computer system, a much deeper
and wider approach channel capable of accommodating some of the world's largest
ships, therefore being said that Kuwait's Port Infrastructure is well on as way to
becoming one of the most advanced in the region.
The budget allocated for the design process is KD 1 million to be executed in nine
months and KD 2 Million has been allocated for the supervision process for the
period of 36 months. The source KPA revealed that the observations raised include
legal reasons such as the ban on deepening the water level of Kuwait Bay, however
