Kuwait mulls resumption of all types of visas from November 1
Kuwait’s Cabinet is due to discuss on Monday a recommendation to
resume issuing visas for all commercial activities, starting from
November 1, local media reported. The health authorities are expected
to agree to this recommendation, in light of the health stability and the
low rate of COVID-19 infections in Kuwait, a government source told Al
Qabas. Kuwait is experiencing labour shortages in some professions as
a result of restrictions prompted by the global pandemic and the
departure of many foreign workers from the country as a result of the
economic fallout.
Suspension opens over-60s window
The Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) said the expected opening of
the automated system for the renewal of work permits for non-graduate
expatriates who are 60 years and above, does not mean new work
permits will be issued automatically, reports Al-Anba daily. Meanwhile,
the suspension of the director of the authority gives the right ‘legally’ for
his deputy to withdraw the decision that was issued by his predecessor
to stop renewing work permits for this category of expatriates.
Airport to full pre-COVID capacity; More flights eyed
The Kuwait International Airport (KIA) authorities say, the Directorate-
General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) expects requests to pour in from 52
local and foreign airlines to operate flights — some requests to operate
more flights to and from Kuwait or to fly to new destinations that were
not operated before or stopped following the outbreak of the Covid-19
pandemic, reports Al-Anba daily.
