Kuwait shutters churches, bans gatherings till Jan 10
The Cabinet decided to close all Christian places of worship and ban all
gatherings to celebrate Christmas and New Year in a bid to prevent the
spread of the coronavirus. The ban continues from Dec 24, 2020 to Jan 10,
2021 a statement by the Cabinet said. The Council of Ministers appealed to
all citizens and expats to continue to comply with health measures and
observe social distancing.
Kuwait joins other Gulf states in launching COVID-19 vaccination drive
Kuwait today started of a massive COVID-19 vaccination plan for citizens
and residents, with centers ready to receive thousands daily. Kuwait, who
will receive doses from overseas on a monthly basis for a period of one
year, joins other countries in the region who have started widespread
inoculation drives, including the UAE and Saudi Arabia.
Kuwait takes delivery of 2 Caracal helicopters with 28 more coming
during 2021 in 1.7 billion euro deal
Kuwait has taken delivery of two Caracal helicopters, the first in a deal
worth 1.7 billion euros. The Kuwaiti army said it launched the new arrivals at
a ceremony on Thursday 24th Dec at the Ali Al Salem Airbase attended by
military chief of staff Gen. Khalid Saleh Al Sabah.

Egypt, Iraq move forward with oil-for-reconstruction plan
The oil-for-reconstruction agreement signed between Egypt and Iraq will
enter into bilateral implementation as soon as constitutional procedures are
complete, Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly has said. He added
Egypt is ready to provide any raw materials, supplies or equipment to the
Iraqi side. The agreement will see Egyptian companies implement
development projects in Iraq in return for quantities of oil imported by Egypt.
