TÊTE-A-TÊTE
How did you enter the shipping industry?
I started my sales carrier in Cochin, Kerala. The entry to Kuwait was
expected sooner or later since my siblings were here. My friend worked in
the shipping industry, who guided and introduced me to Shipping and
finally to my first job in Kuwait at Al Rashed.
Over the last two decades, how is your experience working with the
Al-Rashed team?
Every day is a learning experience here. The day you step in, you are
MR. AJAY KUMAR
ingrained with the Al-Rashed working culture, where work takes centre- CLUSTER MARKETING MANAGER
stage irrespective of the job description. Relations are cultivated on a
foundation of respect. Satisfaction is a byproduct of this team spirit, and I
consider It a privilege to be part of this family.
What is your view on digital marketing?
Frankly, I am yet to adopt this concept in my work, but it is the future, so we have to accept this reality and
go along with it.
There is a misconception that marketing and sales are the same concepts. How will you
differentiate between them?
Both these terms go hand in hand. Marketing makes products and services interesting to the people,
whereas the sales efforts ensure products translate to money.
In your day-to-day business, who inspires you the most?
The “Captain of the ship”, our CEO, epitomizes an unrelenting spirit of inspiring leadership. All these years,
day in & day out, his energy & enthusiasm motivates everyone around.
What do you do to unwind?
Watching TV & listening to music are my favourite pass times.
One aspect of marketing that you think can be done differently, and one thing that you really admire
about Al Rashed?
The strategies remain the same, but the differences lie in implementation and execution. One adapts to
changing scenarios based on internal assessments depending on personal conscience. There are many,
but I especially admire the consistent COMMITMENT which our Al Rashed Management shows towards
Customers, Principals and Employees. “Give, and we shall receive” works for us!
Any last thought that you want to share with the Marketing world?
Every day we are presented with a new world of products, services and strategies. Every day throws up a
new challenge to complete. But at the end of the day, we should remember the age-old mantra
“CUSTOMER is KING!”. If not, we will be like fireflies; they glow for a while only to be lost in the dark.
Retaining success takes strong foundations of determination and principles. This is the eternal truth.
