Mystery surrounds oil spill washing up on Israel and Lebanon’s
shores
The oil slick plaguing Israel’s shoreline has spread north, washing up
on beaches across southern Lebanon.The perpetrators of the oil spill
remain shrouded in mystery however as a court in Haifa made the
surprise decision yesterday to place a seven-day gagging order on
the investigation into the spill that has washed up on more than 100
km of Israel’s shores.The court put out the order after some Israeli
news outlets reported the name of a ship suspected of dumping the
oil.
Saipem awarded $1.7bn offshore contract by Qatargas
Italian offshore engineering specialist Saipem has secured a letter of
award from Qatargas for the development of the North Field
Production Sustainability Offshore Project, located offshore Qatar
peninsula. The total value of the contract is about $1.7bn, and the
scope of work includes the engineering, procurement, construction
and installation of various offshore facilities for the extraction and
transportation of natural gas, including platforms, supporting and
connecting structures, subsea cables and anticorrosion internally
cladded pipelines. Furthermore, the project encompasses the
decommissioning of a pipeline and other significant modifications to
existing offshore facilities.
Another Maersk ship loses hundreds of boxes overboard in the
Pacific
The 13,100 TEU Maersk Eindhoven became the latest boxship
casualty on the Pacific yesterday, suffering a blackout while en route
to California and a subsequent loss of hundreds of containers
overboard. The accident happened near Japan as the 11-year-old
ship made its way from Xiamen in China to Los Angeles. The crew
are safe, propulsion has been restored and vessel tracking suggests
the ship has turned around and is making for an Asian port.

Kuehne + Nagel is set to expand its presence in Asia with the
