POTPOURRI
PURSUE YOUR PASSION!
In this era, the most significant driving force in one’s life is “MONEY”, and it
should be, there isn’t anything wrong in it. We all are here from varied parts
of the world to earn and live a better life. Some of us are even away from
their loved ones to make both ends meet. Beyond the shadow of a doubt, the
world has largely accepted noteworthiness of money.
However, if money is outrightly the only factor that drives people to wake up every
morning and perform their task then there is a problem. When we invest all our
energy, creativity and time in the persuasion of our passion. Money becomes the
byproduct of what we do, money should be the additional advantage of our love for
our services. In short, we should love passionately what we do and do what we
passionately love. That’s is possible only if one is gutsy enough, one is brave
enough to pursue the passion of our life.
Chris Gardner, the once homeless man turned multi-millionaire stockbroker, and
featured in the movie, "The Pursuit of Happyness," expressed what he believes is
the secret to success. According to Gardner, the secret is to "find something you
love to do so much you can't wait for the sun to rise to do it all over again." He
explains that the most inspiring leaders are those who do not work but pursue a
calling.
Similarly, the late Steve Jobs, Apple's most notable leader and ex-CEO., one of the
most successful companies in the world today is Apple. In the article "The Seven
Success Principles of Steve Jobs," The first principle listed was,"Do what you love."
Steve Jobs believed in the power of passion and once said, "People with passion
have the power that can change the world for the better.
By settling for anything that provides us with the satisfaction of earning will not give
us fulfilling and joyful living. Perhaps after a while will reach a saturation point and
the life will become stagnate. That’s one of the reasons why people these days even
after having all materialistic things fall under depression, feeling low for no reason,
often have fluctuating mood swings, etc. The point here is one needs to listen to
their inner calling. What excites and challenges you, and let go of your fears of how
other people will judge what you do. One doesn’t need lots of money to be happy in
life, only need up to a certain amount and that certain amount varies to the
individual to individual. They say, If we worship money will never feel like having
enough if we worship beauty and youth will always end up feeling ugly and old if we
worship intellect and will always feel stupid. Lastly worship power and will always
feel weak. Stay aware of the finiteness of everything, pursue what excites you
when you wake up in the morning.
“Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion
to reach for the stars to change the world.” – Anonymous
