NATIONAL & LIBERATION DAY CELEBRATIONS
Kuwait celebrates its 59th anniversary of National Day and the 29th anniversary of Liberation Day during 25th and
26th Feb 2020. Along with it, the country also celebrates the 14th anniversary of the accession of His Highness the
Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
National Day commemorates Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah's ascension to the throne in 1950 and the
Independence from the British in 1961. Liberation Day is the day when Kuwaiti-US allied forces ended the Iraqi
operation in 1991. Kuwait was the first Arab state in the Persian Gulf to establish a constitution and parliament. Kuwait
believes that Social Security is a fundamental right of every citizen and a major factor in ensuring social and economic
stability.
